The Community Chest Flag Day 2019 Cancelled
 
In view of the recent ongoing social movement, The Community Chest of Hong Kong announced the cancellation of The Community Chest Flag Day 2019 to be held on this Saturday, 16 November. Meanwhile, the “Gold Flag Sale” to be held within organisations and schools remains unchanged.
 
Participating schools and organisations who wish to continue to support The Community Chest Flag Day to benefit over 2.5 million needy in Hong Kong may join our Gold Flag Sale. For details, please visit: www.commchest.org/event/flagday2019/leaflet.pdf.
 
The Community Chest Flag Day is an annual fundraising event which mobilises volunteers from schools, Chest’s member agencies and organisations to take part in the Street Flag Sale and Gold Flag Sale, helping the Chest to accumulate resources for 163 social welfare member agencies. The 2018 event was supported by over 14,000 volunteers, and raised $4.6 million.

About The Community Chest of Hong Kong
The Community Chest of Hong Kong was established in 1968 as an independent, non-profit making organisation neither funded nor operated by the Government. The Chest has been serving Hong Kong for over 50 years. Each year, the Chest organises fund-raising events for over 160 social welfare member agencies to provide services to more than 2.5 million beneficiaries in Hong Kong in six major areas of services: children & youth, elderly, family & child welfare, medical & health, rehabilitation & aftercare, and community development. The Chest’s administration expenses come from a subsidised grant from our partner-in-charity, The Hong Kong Jockey Club, in addition to income from investments. This allows the Chest to allocate 100% of funds raised to charitable use; this operations model makes the Chest unique among its peers, and helps fulfil its mission to act as trustee of the donors.
