HKEX Foundation Limited Donates HK$20 Million to The Community Chest To Support Community Development via HKEX Charity Partnership Programme
2020-06-10
The Community Chest of Hong Kong (the Chest) and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) have established a philanthropic partnership for more than 20 years. Through the “Stock Code Balloting for Charity Scheme”, companies are encouraged to support the community on the occasion of their initial public listing.

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of HKEX, HKEX Foundation Limited has set up the HKEX Charity Partnership Programme and made a generous donation of HK$20 million to the Chest. Through supporting services offered by the Chest’s social welfare member agencies, the programme has a vision to help address various social and environmental challenges faced by our society.

Mrs Laura Cha, Chairman of HKEX Foundation said: “HKEX is committed to building a more resilient community for the future. In celebration of our 20th anniversary, we are proud to set up the HKEX Charity Partnership Programme, which is a major philanthropy programme dedicated to supporting our community. We look forward to working with The Community Chest, standing side-by-side with our stakeholders, to ensure the continued prosperity of Hong Kong.”

Dr Simon Kwok, Chairman of the Chest Campaign Committee said: “HKEX is our valued long-term charity partner. For the past 20 years, the ingenious Stock Code Balloting for Charity Scheme has successfully drawn the participation of over 1,000 companies and brought in significant donations of over HK$1 Billion. We are truly grateful to the tremendous support of HKEX, and we look forward to our continued partnership to help the needy of our community.”

HKEX Charity Partnership Programme is focusing on four major themes: Financial Literacy, Social Diversity and Inclusion, Poverty Relief and Environmental Sustainability. It aims to support the development of the community and the needs of society, to foster mutual help in community, and to make contributions to the long-term sustainability of Hong Kong. This programme is open for application from eligible member agencies of the Chest.

The Chest will oversee the prudent allocation pursuant to funding applications by member agencies. They are invited to submit applications from 17 June to 17 July 2020. The results will be announced in December 2020. For programme details and application form, please visit: app.commchest.org/abac/HKEX/HKEX 20th Anniversary Charity Programme-Application Form.doc.
