Project Detail

People with Intellectual Disabilities (PWID) have been identified as being among “the most medicated groups in society” with rates of prescriptions and polypharmacy exceeding those of the general population.  The project is to address the needs on pharmacist services to advance quality of life for PWID through maintaining and improving their health with advisable medication.  Service content includes medical review, consultation service as well as medication education programme for professional, frontline staff, PWID and their caregivers to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the medication management.  A brand-new medication management framework for PWID in Hong Kong context will be developed.
