The Community Chest 2016/2017 Corporate & Employee Contribution Programme Raised Over HK$140 Million To Make Up About Half of Yearly Total
2017-06-13
With the support from over 770 companies, organisations and government departments, The Community Chest Corporate & Employee Contribution Programme raised over $140 million in 2016/2017, almost half of total funds raised for the whole year.

In recognition of the donors with outstanding contribution, a Cheque and Award Presentation Ceremony was held on 22 May with Mr Vernon Moore, BBS, Corporate & Employee Contribution Programme Chairman 2016/2017 and Co-Chairmen presenting the awards.

The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited raised over HK$14 million and won the Magnificent Award for the 16th consecutive year. With the support of staff and the dollar-to-dollar matching donation by the Hongkong Bank Foundation, the Bank was Top Donor at “Green Day”, ‘‘Love Teeth Day’’, ‘‘Skip Lunch Day’’ and Top Fund-Raiser of the “Employee Contribution Programme”.

The Jardine Matheson Group, Maxim’s Group, The S H Ho Foundation Limited and The Wharf (Holdings) Limited have also contributed generously towards the Programme and were presented with the “Distinguished Awards”. This year, the same award went to two other donors who have each donated over HK$2 million, they are: Ding Kuen Charity Fund Limited and The Dolly Tang Trust.  The Dolly Tang Trust has also designated part of its donations to help defray administration expenses of The Community Chest under its Tang I-Fang & Dolly Kolling Tang Endowment Fund.

The “Employee Contribution Programme” has also been widely supported by organisations and government departments. In 2016/2017, 480 organisations raised over HK$13 million. The Top Three Donors of Employee Contribution Programme were: The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited and Citi respectively. Aside from their participation in Chest’s events, some organisations also initiated their own fund-raising activities. The ‘‘Highest Donation Award’’ of Donation Drive went to Citi, which raised over HK$1.1 million through their ‘‘Rainbow Day’’.

The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited has worked with their staff in promoting the Chest’s CARE Scheme and received The “Highest Donation Award” of the Scheme.
