The Community Chest Anniversary Gala A Show Of Support For 50 Years Of Good Work

‘It has been a great honour for The Community Chest to act as trustee for the people of Hong Kong, to turn their donations into services for those in need, a role we have proudly taken up since our founding 50 years ago’, said the organisation’s Executive Committee Chairman Mr Peter Wong, at Celebrities Sing for the Chest on 27 November, The Community Chest 50^th Anniversary gala dinner.

The HKSAR Chief Executive The Hon Mrs Carrie Lam graced the occasion with her presence when she paid tribute to event patrons: Platinum Patron Mr Samuel and Mrs Lucy Yang Memorial Fund; and Gold Patrons – Asia Insurance, Bonds Group of Companies, Chevalier Group, Dr Stanley Ho, and Shui On Group. Their patronage helped defray event expenses which allowed the Chest to allocate all donations raised to services.

The event was attended by senior Chest members including Former Presidents Mrs Selina Tsang and Mrs Regina Leung; President Mr Charles Lee; Campaign Committee Chairman Dr Simon Kwok; 50^th Anniversary Organising Committee Chairman Dr Dennis Sun; Founding Chairmen and Vice Patrons Dr Samson Sun and Mrs Kitty Siu; Vice Patron Mr Leon Lai. Also present were Executive Council member The Hon Bernard Chan; HKSAR Government officials: Secretary for Justice Ms Teresa Cheng; Secretary for Labour and Welfare Dr Law Chi-kwong; Secretary for Security Mr John Lee, Secretary for Transport and Housing Mr Frank Chan, and ICAC Commissioner Mr Simon Peh.

Highlight of the evening came from singing performances by friends and supporters: Chairman of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Mr Anthony Chow; Commissioner of Police Mr Stephen Lo and his police team; Deputy Chairman and Managing Director of Hopewell Holdings Limited Mr Thomas Wu; Mrs Tenny Cheng; Former Executive Committee Chairman of the Chest Mr Lawrence Yu; and Board Members: Dr David Harilela, Dr John Chan, Mr Billy Kong and Mr Lionel Lam.
