The Community Chest 50th Anniversary Walk for Millions (Central – Wan Chai Bypass)

To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Community Chest, we have sought the opportunity to organise a special walk along a new infrastructure, the Central-Wanchai Bypass on 6 January 2019. All funds raised will go to 24 member social welfare agencies in enhancing Family and Child Welfare Services.
 
At the event’s announcement officiated by the Director of Home Affairs, Ms Tse Siu-wa, Janice on 7 December, The Community Chest Campaign Committee Chairman Dr Simon Kwok said the anniversary-year walk will start at Edinburgh Place in Central and finish at Oil Street in North Point. Total distance of the Walk is about 5.3 km and it is estimated to take two hours to finish the whole journey. Joining Ms Tse and Dr Kwok were 50th Anniversary Walk for Millions Organising Committee Chairmen Mr Pang Siu-hin and Mr Wilson Pong, Co-Chairmen Mr Chong Kin-shing, Mr Vincent Wong, Ms Jennifer Y C Yeung and Board Member Mr Lionel Lam Kin.
 
The Community Chest wishes to thank Bank of China (Hong Kong) for fully supporting the 50th Anniversary Walk for Millions, enabling the Chest to allocate all donation to the community without deduction of administrative costs.

Founded on 8 November 1968, The Community Chest has been helping Hong Kong people for 50 years by funding the social services of its 161 member welfare agencies. The Walk for Millions is a signature fund-raising event that started in 1971 and has been a major fund-raiser for The Chest every year since then.
