The Community Chest Launches Limited Edition “New Banknote Charity Collective Sets” Three Note-issuing Banks Donate New Banknotes for Charity

On its 50th Anniversary year, The Community Chest is going to launch the limited edition “New Banknote Charity Collective Sets” to raise funds through new banknotes donated by the three note-issuing banks (NIBs). All funds raised will go to benefitting 161 member social welfare agencies of The Community Chest to provide “Children and Youth Services”, “Elderly Services”, “Family and Child Welfare Services”, “Medical and Health Services”, “Rehabilitation and Aftercare Services” and “Community Development and Other Services”, without any deduction of administrative costs.
 
The Chest would like to thank the NIBs - Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited, The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited and Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited for their generous donation of new HK$1,000 and HK$500 banknotes with matching serial numbers, and the debut launch of 35-in-1 Uncut HK$500 banknotes to support the “New Banknote Charity Collective Sets” charity campaign.

Four banknote sets will be launched in the first phase for public bidding / subscription:

Imperial Collection - HK$1,000 Banknote Set (Auspicious Matching Number)
 -   Each set consists of three pieces of HK$1,000 banknote from each NIB, with auspicious and matching serial number
 -   Minimum bidding price: HK$12,800 per set
 -   Quantity: 50 Sets (Each person can bid for more than one serial number)

Imperial Collection - HK$1,000 Banknote Set (Matching Number)
 -   Each set consists of three pieces of HK$1,000 banknote from each NIB, with matching serial number (Banknotes sets are allocated randomly.  Selection or exchange of serial number is not allowed)
 -   Subscription price: HK$8,800 per set
 -   Quantity: 150 Sets (Each person can subscribe up to two sets only)

Eternity Collection - 35-in-1 Uncut HK$500 Banknote Set (First time available for charity purpose)
 -   Each set consists of three pieces of 35-in-1 uncut HK$500 banknotes, issued by each of the three NIBs respectively, without matching serial number.  This is the first time HK$500 uncut banknotes are made available for chairty purpose.
 -   Subscription price: HK$88,000 per set
 -   Quantity: a maximum of 50 sets (Each person can subscribe up to two sets only)

Eternity Collection - HK$500 Banknote Set (Matching Number)
 -   Each set consists of three pieces of HK$500 banknote from each NIB, with matching serial number
 -   Subscription price: HK$3,800 per set
 -   Quantity: 300 sets (Each person can subscribe up to two sets only)
 
Interested parties can submit bidding / subscription application from 18 February to 22 March 2019 (12:00 noon) by:

Mail application: Applicable to all New Banknote Charity Collective Sets.  Application form can be downloaded from event website https://newbanknotes.commchest.org or obtained at the Chest’s office.

Online application: Only applicable to subscription of Imperial Collection - HK$1,000 Banknote Set (HK$8,800) and Eternity Collection - HK$500 Banknote Set (HK$3,800).  Applicants must submit their applications via the event website https://newbanknotes.commchest.org, and payment will be charged immediately.
 
For bidding of Imperial Collection - HK$1,000 Banknote Set (Auspicious Matching Number), each person can bid for more than one serial number.
 
For subscription of Imperial Collection - HK$1,000 Banknote Set (Matching Number); Eternity Collection - 35-in-1 Uncut HK$500 Banknote Set and Eternity Collection - HK$500 Banknote Set, each person can subscribe up to six sets (two sets per each category of charity set).
 
If there is over subscription for a particular charity set of “Imperial Collection” and “Eternity Collection”, or more than one bid with same amount for a particular number of “Imperial Collection”, the set will be allocated by a draw to be monitored by KPMG.
